J.B. Pastor & Fils
The Pastor family name is intrinsically linked to Monaco, as each generation continues to build on, and add to, the success of founder Jean-Baptiste Pastor, who started the first company in 1913.
A Brief History
In 1936, Jean-Baptiste Pastor was commissioned to build the former Louis II stadium in the Fontvieille quarter (on the site of the current shopping mall), this was a significant project, entrusted by Prince Louis II to Jean-Baptiste. It gave a huge impetus to a small, local firm and really launched it into business – the drawing of the Louis II stadium has become the main Pastor logo.
From 1958 to 1962, to prepare Monaco for summer tourism and water sports, Prince Rainier III undertook a series of major projects in the principality, including building the underground railway, to allow Monte Carlo unhampered access to the sea. Gildo Pastor was in charge of the gigantic worksite, which resulted in the addition of 54,000 square metres of land in the Larvotto quarter, lined by a 450 metre long artificial beach. These new additions allowed a host of reception and leisure facilities to be redeployed, and the project lasted more than ten years.
The most complicated and innovative project to date in the history of the family business has been the construction of the Summer Sporting Club in 1973, lead by Victor Pastor. A great achievement, with an amazing slide-back roof that was nothing short of true technical prowess.
The Pastor group of companies continues to grow and develop under responsible leadership, with each striving to deliver the best possible outcomes.
